Thoughts To Think On #1

Thought 1

You cannot let the past dictate your future progress. We have all done things that we are ashamed of and regret. We constantly live in the tension of where we have been, where we are and where we want to go. To live life moving forward; you must release the guilt of yesterday, the disappointments of today and the fears of tomorrow.

What past events have you allowed to hinder your future progress? Leave a comment below.

Self doubt can and has held me back from moving forward. I have to keep reminding myself to speak good and positive thoughts to prevent this.

I have let self doubt hold me back. It is a constant battle not to give in to self doubt. I constantly speak to myself who God called me to be.

That’s the best way to do it.

One of the biggest struggles in my life has been learning from past mistakes while not dwelling on them and beating myself up.

    • Bernard Haynes

I feel you. That has been struggle with me. I am learning to stop beating myself up over something I can not change.

Sometimes I let guilt over failures beat me up instead of remembering I am LOVED by God REGARDLESS of my performance. I am saved by GRACE, not works. God doesn’t want me to beat myself up, He wants me to learn and move on.

TC, I am with you on that. I find myself doing the same thing. We have to remember God loves us pass our failures.

That is such a wonderful reassurance.
God bless and have a wonderful week.

Hi, I just found your blog through a comment you made on TC Avey’s blog – it looks like you have a lot of great posts! I was helping my 21 year old son talk through his habit of beating himself up over Christmas and all of a sudden I realized – he learned this from me! I wasn’t even aware that’s what I was doing. Both of us have been breaking free from it, mainly by developing a habit of thanksgiving – just constantly thanking God for who He is, for what He does, and just for various gifts throughout the day. It’s surprising what a difference it has made in a short time.

I am glad you stopped by Barb. It is surprising what happens when we give thanks to God. It makes a difference because His Word says, be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. When you and your son began to do this in the next verse in Phillipians manifested in your life. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I will pray that you and your son will continue to experience the manifestation of God’s blessings in your life. His Word makes a difference in our lives. I hope to hear more from you. Be blessed.

Thanks, Bernard. You know, I always used that verse for worry and it worked – when I started praising God, I stopped worrying. It didn’t occur to me that it would also work for self-condemnation. I’m thinking praise and thanksgiving is a good antidote to all kinds of things!

Barb, you are right. Throughout scriptures we see the power of praise and thanksgiving and the impact it has.
