“Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.” Arthur Ashe
Do you believe you have everything within you to live a winning life? When I talk about winning, I am not talking about keeping score in a basketball game or your favorite board game, but I am speaking of living out the vision God designed for your life.
The key to winning
It is easy to get overwhelmed with the daily grind of life that you cast your visions aside. You work forty plus hours a week and it you still cannot get ahead. You try to do the right things to take progressive steps forward, but it seems something always happen to stall your efforts or push you back five steps. At the end of the day, you are left disappointed, discouraged and depleted.
You want to live a victorious life, but negative circumstances from your past and present keeps you locked in a perpetual cycle of hopelessness.
You know God birthed a vision in you that wants to come alive, but you cannot bring it to life because you cannot move pass what happened yesterday or where you are today. So your vision dies an early death and you lose out on living your best life.
The key to experiencing a winning life is to not let past failures or today’s negative circumstances define who you are and what you can do. I read an encouraging quote by Michael Jordan, whom many believe is the greatest basketball player of all time. His quote shed light on what it takes to win. He said,
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Successful people learn to forge ahead in spite of past failures or current life turbulence. They realize that deep within them resides the power to win. They study what they did to cause the failure and what they would do again if faced with a similar situation.
They use their current life turbulence to strengthen them and not destroy them. They conclude that success is possible, if they stay in the fight and not give up.
The Wrong Influence
Marketing and branding strategies from companies across the globe influence many people to be who they are not or buy what they cannot afford. They allow this powerful and influential spirit to infiltrate their mind and tell them; they must emulate this person, drive this particular car, live in this size house or hang with this group of people to be accepted.
Today’s society is flooded with too many imitators and not enough originators.
Do not fall into the trap of letting the daily barrage of thousands of commercials, advertisements and television programs dictate your life. Do not allow them to infiltrate your mind with the thoughts that tell you, if you do not have the same gifts, talents or abilities as a certain athlete, celebrity or famous person then you won’t measure up.
I beg to differ. God equipped you with unique gifts to affect and infect your world.
You Have All You Need
God gave you everything you will ever need to live out your life’s vision. He is not going to give you any more than you already possess. I do not care how many more conferences, workshops, classes or seminars you attend, they cannot give you your vision.
You can read a hundred more self-help books with their five step plans to this and seven strategies to that and still remain stuck and stagnant. The only way you will move to success is to use what God deposited in you to live out your vision. The things I mentioned earlier are at your disposal to enhance what is already in you.
God desires for you to open your mind to the creative concepts, innovative ideas and tremendous thoughts, He placed within you. It will amaze you of the things you can do and accomplish when you take action on your gifts. Not only will it amaze you, but everyone who counted you out or who thought you would never make it will be amazed at your progress.
God has many opportunities open for you, but you will not experience them until you take action. I learned quickly that just wishing and talking about what I wanted to accomplish did not open the doors of opportunity. I had to put feet to my faith. When I finally shut my mouth and took action the doors of opportunity began to swing open.
Do not think, “There is no way I can do great things with my limited skills and abilities.” Do not give into the thoughts that tell you, “Your vision cannot happen because of where you are or your past failures.” I want to let you in on a little secret, God can still use the imperfect you in a powerful way.
- If you need to confess and repent of sin, do it now.
- If you need to give up hindering habits, start today.
- If you need to separate from negative people, cut the ties.
- If you need to start over where you are, get busy.
God’s Track Record
You must seek God’s face in prayer and read His Word to hear His directions. When you do, He will give you the exact directions and coordinates you need to follow to get you where you desire to be.
Take a look at his track record.
- He took David, a young shepherd boy, and used him to defeat a nearly ten foot giant with a sling and a rock.
- He took Moses, who had a serious excuse problem, and used him to lead millions of people out of Egyptian bondage.
- He took Peter, a foul mouth fisherman, and used him to become a fisher of men.
- He took Paul, a murderer of Christians, and used him to preach His Word and write most of The New Testament.
If God can use them to accomplish His purpose, just imagine the great victories you can achieve when you realize He equipped you with everything you need to win.
